Preparing for Your Session: Tips and Tricks
Once you book a session with me, I am always on hand to answer any specific questions about your upcoming shoot. However, I’d also like to share some general tips that apply to most of my sessions.
1. Footwear for Outdoor Shoots: For outdoor sessions, I recommend bringing a comfortable pair of shoes, even if you plan to be barefoot in the photos. This is especially useful if we’re navigating fields or uneven terrain.
2. Managing the Little Ones: Preparing children for a photoshoot can sometimes be challenging. Here are a few strategies to keep them engaged:
- Candy as a Little Incentive: A small bag of candy or gummies can be a helpful bribe to keep the little ones happy and cooperative.
- Comfort Items: Feel free to bring a toy or pacifier, especially for toddlers and babies. These items can provide comfort and help us capture genuine moments, even with their favorite “dirty blanket” or well-loved stuffed animal. Remember, capturing the real you, and them, is what it’s all about.
- Encourage Natural Behavior: Let them know it’s okay to play and be themselves. I aim to make this a fun experience where they can be captured doing what they love.
3. Eyewear Tips: If you wear transition glasses, it’s best to leave them aside during the shoot. They can hinder the look we’re going for in the photos. If necessary, have a safe place to keep them when not in use.
4. Pocket Checks: Before the shoot, ensure your pockets are empty of items like wallets, cell phones, and sunglasses. These can be distracting in the final photos.
5. Styling Guidance: Choosing outfits for a photoshoot can be daunting, but don’t worry – I’ve got you covered! I’ll provide styling suggestions to suit the aesthetic you’re aiming for and even help you pick out outfits directly from your closet if needed. My goal is to ensure that your family looks cohesive and feels comfortable.
6. Hair Accessories for Outdoor Shoots: If we’re shooting outdoors, it’s a good idea to bring some bobby pins or hair clips, just in case it’s a windy day.
With these tips, you’re all set for a successful, fun, and stress-free photoshoot. Remember, my goal is to capture the authentic you and make this experience enjoyable for everyone involved!
